Description

A very pretty Gilbern GT in a light metallic blue, registered in 1966.
It has the MGB 1800 engine and a 4 speed overdrive gearbox.
MOT until 25th May 2025. 21042 miles showing.

This was my father's car and we are selling due to bereavement.

This car had a full body off 7 year restoration commencing in 1997 and being completed in 2005 the result of which allowed it to win the Gilbern Club overall national concours award in 2006.

Chassis: 90% of the chassis steel replaced and all repainted.
Engine: Rebored and rebuilt using unleaded head, Kent camshaft and fully balanced engine, Alden distributor and Lumenatic electronic ignition, oil cooler and new exhaust with full flow manifold.
Gearbox: 4 speed synchromesh with new oil seals and overdrive.
Clutch: New with rebuilt master and slave cylinders.
Rear axle: replaced differential and new bearings and oil seals.
Brakes: New front discs, pads and callipers re sealed, new rear brake shoes and cylinders, rebuilt master cylinder and servo, all new brake pipes and flexibles, hand brake cable replaced.
Suspension front: new front shock absorbers and uprated anti roll bar with new bushes, new king pins bushes, wheel bearings and seals.
Suspension rear: Updated Genie type trailing arms and rubber bushes.
Steering: New steering column bushes and CV joint, steering rack rebuilt with new bushes and gaiters.
Propshaft: reconditioned unit.
Bumpers: replaced and rechromed.
Carburettors: Rebuilt.
Electrics: dynamo replaced with alternator, system changed to negative earth, new rear loom added to suit alternator, new sealed beam headlight units added.
General: New stainless steel petrol tank, and replacement electronic petrol pump. new copper pipe petrol pipe, body repaired and coated underneath with resin and matting, topside cut back to gel coat and reprimed, undercoated and resprayed in metallic two pack paint, new seals on front and back windows and doors.
Interior: New headlining and carpets, rear seats rebuilt using new timber, doors retrimmed, original leather cloth retained where possible, new front inertia reel seatbelts.
This work undertaken by the previous owner Paul Rice of Bristol. A very pretty daily useable classic tax and mot exempt.
