Citroen DS - the “Goddess” (from the French: Deesse)
Voted the most beautiful car of all time by ‘Classic & Sports Car’ magazine after a poll of 20 judges including luminaries such as Ian Callum and Giorgetto Giugiaro, beatings cars such as the E-Type and the Ferrari 275 GTB.
The DS was known for its ground-breaking features including there hydraulic self-levelling suspension.
It is also the car that saved French President De Gaulle’s life as it drove away safely at speed post an assassination attempt that riddled the car with bullets and punctured all four tyres.
Anyway, assuming you are reading this ad, you probably already know a lot of this stuff.
So, let’s talk about my car:
She is a DS 23 Pallas, the non-injection model. This was the best model in my mind as it has the bigger, more effortless engine and came with many extras not found on lesser models including better brakes, better hydraulic pump and even a 2nd silencer to help the car run smoother and quieter.
She lived in South Africa until 2021 when the previous owner imported her. He owned the car for over 10 years and previous to that, she had only one previous owner. That makes me the 3rd owner ever.
The car was serviced by the same garage in South Africa its whole life and was freshly serviced just before she came over to the UK.
However, time doesn’t stand still so in the time, I have owned the car, I have done the following:
Re-conditioned the radiator.
Converted to electronic ignition.
Converted to an electric fuel pump.
Changed all the LHM suspension fluid.
Changed all spark plugs.
New exhaust system
New tyres all around.
Replaced all the bump-stops.
Interior converted to full, black, soft leather.
The list goes on but now she fires straight away - no more churning the starter and waiting for the car to start.

The old girl is obviously tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt and above all is ready to carry her new owner down to St Tropez or the Kings Road in style.
