The year was 1958 and at this time the Porsche 356s were beginning to prove uncompetitive in speed tests but they still had a strong presence in Rallies, particularly through the participation of enthusiasts who often dominated the category up to 1600 cc with their Porsche 356s. Super.
The vehicle we present, a Porsche 356 A 1600 Super, has a great track record in Portuguese automobile events in the 50s and 60s. In the possession of João de Castro, a great enthusiast and frequent participant in this type of competition, it takes part in the IX Grand Tour to Portugal, a race organized by Clube 100 à Hora that took place between the 6th and 9th of February 1958. This example had chassis No. 57942, having received registration number DD-41-05.
It is one of several Porsche 356s that this enthusiast used for sporting purposes during the 1950s, a circumstance that made him one of the main people responsible for promoting and affirming the Porsche brand in Portugal.
This vehicle was sold new in Portugal by Sociedade Comercial Guérin
