Description
I first owned this actual fizzy back in 1978 just before I turned 16, and I sold it in 1980 when I moved up to a Suzuki GT125. A few years ago this actual bike reappeared in bits just an hour away from me so I bought it back. I then sourced all the missing parts and rebuilt it into how you see it today. A few pattern parts where the originals are no longer available, but you probably wouldn't even notice them from the originals. It doesn’t have a matching numbers engine as the original engine was blown up over 20 years ago in the Colchester, Essex area – it may still be about somewhere out there, who knows? The engine in it has been fully rebuilt from top to bottom.
It needs nothing doing to it, runs and rides really well and all the electrics work as they should. It comes with masses of receipts for the parts, a Haynes manual, parts book and some spares. It also comes with 3 original Yamaha half-moon keys which fit both the ignition and the steering lock – I only had one original key but two more turned up on Ebay and of course I had to have them!
All in all its a great piece of motorcycling history which would make a great display piece, or just ride it as Yamaha intended. On 3rd March this year (which also happens to be my birthday) she’ll be 50 years old.
I’ve even enjoyed just looking at it and casting my memory back to 1978/ 9, but I’ve now bought another bike to play with as I really miss getting the spanners out! I simply can’t afford to have two bikes at the same time, so sadly I have to let her go to a new lucky owner. Please note that the mileage is obviously not original - when I bought it it had been reset to 2 miles and I have ridden it to 23 miles. A few minor marks here and there but it is superb.
I can put you in touch with a very helpful and reliable chap who can deliver it pretty much anywhere in the country for you.
Please feel free to contact me on the details below if you have any questions.
Thanks for looking, take care and ride safe.
Regards
Mike
