1989 Citroen AX GT - 68, 000 miles - 3 previous keepers - Rare Silver Colour
I bought this GT from a collector that had owned the car for a number of years, it has been stored inside his barn since 2018.
I have made a start recommissioning this vehicle, including but not limited to full service incl cambelt and water pump, carburettor tune, brake fluid change, coolant flush and replacement and some wiring jobs.
With appropriate choke, it starts every time and idles lovely. The engine sounds and runs beautifully following the work I have carried out, it drives extremely nicely indeed, it's very fast!
I decided to put it through an MOT in the hopes of proving what else needs doing. There were a few failures, namely brakes and some small corrosion in the boot floor (very common - see photos). There has already been some welding repairs carried out in the engine bay (also photographed). The bodywork presents OK but shows a number of imperfections to the body and paint. The worst of which is some bubbling on the rear quarters, again a common place for AXs to corrode.
The interior presents very nicely indeed; the seats, carpets and headliner are all in a great condition. The only thing that lets the inside down is a cracked dash.
In summary, this low mileage, rare AX GT is a running and driving project that simply needs finishing, I do not quite have the time to do it myself anymore.
