Description
Austin Healey 100-6 1958
This car was originally exported to the States and was LHD, I have a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate with all original details – its started life as black/ red and was fitted with optional equipment – wire wheels, overdrive, heater and road speed tyres (whatever they are). It was built 23-28 January 1958.
I have an extensive history file from 1990 when it was brought back to the UK – hundreds of receipts and a good photo file.

I bought it on completion of this work – things I have added;
Aluminium radiator ( really helps with cooling)
Oil cooler
6 blade fan
Alloy sump
Alloy rocker cover
New dynamo and coil
Rear leaf springs – two purchased but only fitted driver side.
Aluminium fuel tank
Stainless exhaust
LED lights including running lights
New front bumper
Boot liner
Comes with workshop manual and owners manual. I kept the old radiator, sump, tank etc - few other spares.
There is a soft top with frame - never used it, I have trial fitted it and it is very tight, needs laid out on a warm day to stretch it a bit. I just use the tonneau. in fact on a cold or wet day you can unzip the driver side and sit inside it. The side windows are the bolt on type - again never used them.
The LED upgrade is great, makes your indicators and brake lights easily visible - I also fitted running lights, every little helps to be more visible on the road. There seems to be a growing number of people who prefer texting to paying attention.
It runs great, I have done several hundred miles last summer. Starts easily, only needs choke for a minute. Overdrive works fine, oil pressure good, petrol gauge gives you a general idea of what might be in the tank.
Gearbox – changes up fine, but it will crunch into second changing down unless you double clutch – I don’t know if that is a feature of this gearbox or just mine!
Speedo is removed - I have sent it to AH Spares to get it reconditioned - it was reading high. Should get it back in the next week. I put 48500 in mileage, truth is I have no idea of the true mileage of the car and I don't think it is relevant in a restored car!
There two small dents in the rear nearside wing – done by me – but hardly noticeable.
Car is in Scotland near Dundee - I can do a video if necessary, but would only really be happy to sell it to someone who has a proper look and try it out.
