1987 BMW 5 Series 520i E28 Alpina Recreation
The Alpina B2. 8 was a UK only model which debuted in October 1983, brought to market by Sytner BMW. Around 20 cars were built of which it is estimated only 10 remain. This particular car is a very accurate recreation and tribute to the original cars. Built with particular attention to detail.
To create the right look all of the conversion parts were sourced which include a full Alpina Deko-set, Alpina style front lip and rear spoiler, Staggered 16" Alpina style alloy wheels, Front Grill emblem, Rear body emblems, Yellow tinted high beams & foglamps, Twin tip stainless steel exhaust and a pair of Alpina logo number plates
The car was originally a very clean 520i finished in "Alpineweiss" white which lends itself perfectly to this kind of conversion. It was part of a private collection of cars which were in long term indoor storage.
The underside of the car is in really good condition and does not suffer from any rot and has never been welded before. This includes the sills, rear inner arches, door bottoms, boot floor etc. Unheard of for a 38 year old BMW!
The interior is in very good original condition with only the addition of a Personal Monza steering wheel and gear knob. It also has radio fitted which has bluetooth
It has also had huge mechanical refresh with work including:
Brand new camshaft, new head gasket, new timing belt and water pump. new intake manifold gaskets, refurbished valve cover and new gasket, new distributor cap and rotor, new brake discs and pads all round, new brake hard lines and rear flexi lines, new rear antiroll bushes, new rear brake calipers, new battery, new fuel pump, new fuel lines, new coolant, new propshaft donut, new aux belts, a custom made stainless exhaust and a fresh service
The car runs and drives very well as you would expect and the six cylinder engine sounds fantastic through the new exhaust system.
It has a long MOT with 11 months remaining and no advisories.
Its definitely a bit of fun to have around and gets a lot of attention. Ready for a new owner to enjoy
