This Morgan Plus 4 Super Sport is a classic British roadster, celebrated for its timeless design and impressive mechanical capabilities. Only made in 104 copies, the Morgan plus 4 Super sport is a very special car, and the most expensive Morgan you could buy in the nineteen sixtees. Powered by a 2. 2-liter inline-four Triumph TR4 engine with twin Weber side-draft carburetors and tuned by Lawrence Tune. The car has all macthing numbers regarding chassis, engine and the 4-speed Moss-box. This 1963 example is finished in dark green over a black leather interior. It features original fiberglass hardtop, exterior chrome accents, a split engine cover with louvers and a side scoop, bench seats, a wooden dashboard, and wire-spoke wheels with white side wall tyres. This Morgan Plus 4 Super Sport was a celebration of the 1962 Le Mans winner in the 2-litre class, build and droven by Christopher Lawrence and Richard Sheppard-Barron. The Super Sport features an aluminum "lowline" body mounted on a traditional ashwood frame, with a design that includes a long hood with a split engine cover, louvers, a side scoop, a short rear deck, and a distinctive sloping grille. This specefic Morgan +4 Super Sport - chassis no. 5297 - is the only one, of the total of 104 factory recognised Super Sports, that has been ordered for the Danish market by the Danish agent, Torben Krogh back in 1963. The car has a history of 9 Danish ovners including me, since new in 1963. The car has been exhibited in my museum - The Morgan Garage since 2021 and has been admired by lots of guests over the years.
In 2020 and 2021 the car was refurbished, Technically, bodywork, all interior and paintwork has been done aiming to bring back the car to the original appearance from 1963, using only the old photos showen above, as guideline for the restoration. The car is driving very well for its age, and has a Danish MOT and registered with old type license plates.
