Note For R75 / ZT enthusiasts :
The Car comes with a fuel filter cartridge clip and spare outer seal (that holds the cartridge in place).
As this fault sends a huge number of 75's to the scrap yard. It is worth sharing the knowledge to protect the Legacy.
The symptom on those breakdowns is no fuel at the injectors with ODM diagnostics not revealing the real issue.
The plastic Cartridge in the top of the fuel tank (under the rear seat bench - nearside) that houses the fuel filter works loose over the years and separates and falls into the fuel tank. Cartridge rotates to lock and open in the middle section. This undoes itself over time.
It is a rediculous design failure. The tiny clip is an after market solution that holds the Cartridge together after it is rotated back together.
The fuel pump is on the drivers side of the fuel tank and it cannot prime once pressure is lost when the filter cartridge (lower section) detatches and falls into the tank.
N. B - Take Battery Off and Siphon fuel when doing this repair or filter replacement. BOTH PUMP AND FILTER ARE WORKED ON FROM ABOVE THE PLASTIC TANK - Access under rear bench seat.
