● This 1978 Bentley T2 is a fully restored early example of the elegant late ‘70s luxury classic presented in a tasteful colour scheme (re-painted in 2018)
● Power comes from a 6. 75-litre Rolls-Royce / Bentley L-Series V8, coupled to a three-speed automatic transmission. The engine and chassis are noted to be original.
● Sold to me by The Chelsea Workshop Bentley specialist in London (now in Surrey). I inherited the car in 2010 and have driven in Paris and South of France, and now the T2 is in Milan, Italy.
● DVLA records show that the car has had ten former registered keepers in the UK.
● The odometer indicates 120, 200 miles, warranted.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

● The Bentley T2 series is a badge-engineered version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II, just as its predecessor was ostensibly a Silver Shadow I. Changes over its predecessor included rack and pinion steering, an improved air conditioning system, rubber-faced bumpers with chrome accents, a new fascia and a front air dam for non-US cars, such as this one.
● This example is finished in Garnet over a Magnolia hide-trimmed interior, with red piping, and elegant wood trim inlays on the dashboard and all four door caps.
● It rides on a set of 15-inch wheels, fitted with Avon Turbosteel 70 tyres with white accents (fitted in 2018).
● Equipment includes an analogue clock, speed control, a Blaupunkt radio, an outside temperature gauge, various Rolls-Royce dials, front fog lights, and front armrests.
● Accompanying the vehicle will be the owner’s books and one original key.

CONDITION

● Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
● Specific notes from the seller include: the car has been restored. Before repainting, Bentley was contacted to confirm the correct original colour specification and five layers of fresh paint were applied. Inside, the carpets and leather were cleaned and restored, and the burr walnut wood panels were also repaired and restored.

SERVICE HISTORY

● This T2’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in 2023, which was a service and cam belt change.
● Prior to this, it was serviced in 2021 at around an indicated 95, 000 miles, and in 2020 at approximately 83, 000 indicated miles.
● When the car was in the UK, the Chelsea Workshop performed MOTs and routine engine oil and filter change services on the car at around an indicated 75, 000 miles.

SUMMARY

This 1978 Bentley T2 is an effortless but strong cruiser and an elegant classic luxury saloon. Boasting resprayed paintwork and a smart restored leather and wood interior, it's a true gentlemen's drive (even without a chauffeur) and it is ready to go back to UK roads where she belongs. I bought it from the Chelsea Workshop because it was elegant, not to bold, classy and most importantly original (no damages, no funny businesses with parts, paint or worse, engine). Still runs well, she is old, but when the engine warms up she has a great pace.
