1998 Toyota Hiace Super Custom

Here we have our much loved and highly reliable campervan for sale. We acquired it in 2020 but prior to that it was owned by another family member who bought it from the importing agent ( I understand it was imported into the UK from Japan in 2006, eight years after the year of manufacture)

The mileage is currently 162k , this won’t be increasing as we sorn’d the van and have it parked up on our driveway. Overall it is in good mechanical condition having had regular service maintenance and has a current MOT valid until May 25, we have plenty of paperwork documenting this including a new clutch in April 22 and four new tyres in May 23. Also of note is the stainless steel exhaust system which has proven to be very robust.

The layout consists of driver and front passenger seats and in the rear two more seats accommodating three and two passengers respectively. These five seats have lap seat belts and removable head restraints. With these removed the two seats fold down to form a very comfortable double bed base, there is also a single raised bunk bed more suited to a child. This bed is made up from three support cross elements and two folding base panels that all neatly stow away when not in use. Both beds are accessible by the sliding door.

To the rear of the vehicle is a handy storage cupboard with built in fridge and sink ; the fridge is 12v powered off the leisure battery as is the water pump. The sink setup requires an appropriate water container that fits the screw cap connector, otherwise functional with tap and waste pipe to outside.
We have installed our own simple led light strip that operates from a handy remote, we use this in preference to the original ceiling lights as they consume less energy.
All the electrics running off the leisure battery are managed through a new fused consumer board that also houses a handy usb socket, there is no radio but we have installed a Bluetooth amplifier that is wired into the speaker system.
There is no 240v hook up.
There is a tow bar present.
There is a Fiamma wind out awning that either props off the side of the van when using the aluminium mounting brackets or the extendable legs can be pegged into the ground.
Included in the sale is a tent extension designed to fit this vehicle, it fits to the side where the sliding door is located. I cannot entirely guarantee it’s condition as we haven’t had the need to use it for a number of years, it’s been dry stored so see no reason why it shouldn’t be ok. Potentially a very useful extra kitchen area or even for additional beds.

As is to be expected this van bears some wear and tear from 26 year’s service, most notably on the body work are some dents and areas of rust . I have included photos of the worst areas located on the tailgate and the front drivers side wheel arch that will some attention in due course. Recently since it has been parked up some rain water has leaked in through the door seal and soaked into the footwell carpet.
