Description

Up for sale is a tastefully and usefully upgraded 1964 Morris Minor 1275 Traveller, fitted with an upgraded 1275cc A-series engine, mated to a 5 speed gearbox and with a disc brake conversion on the front axle.

The car came to us as a genuine ‘garage find’ having spent at least 12 years in a lock-up in Ilfracombe, just up the coast from us. It is a genuine 2 owner (father and son) car, showing low mileage (28k). We have sympathetically serviced the car prior to getting it running again, which it now does on the button.

The Traveller is in good condition outside, with solid wood (recently sanded and varnished) and refurbed wheels. There are some external signs of the time it spent in the garage, with some rust here and there and some bubbling under the paint on one of the rear arches, but nothing detrimental to the overall aesthetic. Don’t expect a concours car and you won’t be disappointed.

Underneath, there has been a good coating of underseal applied to the chassis, resulting in no rust developing whilst it was in storage.

Inside, the Moggy features upgraded red leather seats (from an MGF), with tilt access to the rear, where you will find inertia real seatbelts have been fitted. There are also inertia reels in the front for driver and passenger. There is a working heater, heated rear screens (untested) and a working hazard warning switch.

On the road, the Morris retains the charm and excellent road manners of the original 1000 from this era, but with some useful extra pep under the bonnet courtesy of the 1275cc lump and 5-speed ‘box. It will keep up with modern traffic with no issues at all and is usefully quieter at cruising speeds too, when in top.

All in, a great example of an upgraded Traveller, with evidence of recent spend, V5 present and showing 28, 000 miles on the clock. Looking standard on the outside, but possessing some much needed upgrades in all the right areas for modern usage, and now representing excellent value for the next owner to use as is or take it to the next level cosmetically.
