Bought this car not too long ago. In my short ownership I have done huge amount of mechanical work to make this a reliable and usable classic, a non exhaustive list includes:
Rebuilt brakes all round, new drums, ebc green stuff pads and dotted/ grooved disks
Gaz rear telescopic shocks and reconditioned front shocks
New thicker anti roll bar and poly bushes
New tie rod end and drop links
Refurbished rostyle wheels with new Blockleys fitted
MGB hive stainless exhaust system with tubular manifold
Rebuilt carbs with SU rebuild kit
Refurbished air filters
New clutch and brake master cylinder
LED light kit all round
Loads of new interior switches along with other bits
Usual servicing, valve clearances etc
New alternator, has electronic ignition fitted by previous owner
Gas strut kit for bonnet
Wheel alignment done by local tyre fitter using laser system
I have all invoices to back up the work done, all parts were sourced from reputable dealers including MGB Hive and MGOC.
A previous owner did the paintwork, he chose a Rover Tahiti Blue. Whilst not an original colour, it suits the car very well. Unfortunately he also installed a britax sunroof. Whilst not to everyone's taste, it is leak free and provides the necessary light and a good draft in the summer. The car is notably rust free, and was one of the main reasons I bought this car. It had been regularly rustproofed by previous owners, and this has just been done ready for the winter.
The car is indicating just 55, 000 miles. The interior is very good, both seats have been replaced recently and are very good and tear free. I have fitted MGOC supplied 3 point harnesses, I find them much more supportive and comfortable than the original. This said, I have the original inertia real belts that were in the car should you wish to reinstall them. The wheel has also been replaced for a motto lita style wheel, being an inch smaller than the original (great for taller drivers like me). This said once again, I have the original wheel which is in fantastic shape.
Overall a fantastic drivers car, no mechanical work needed at all. Ready to be driven all year round. Unfortunately I am having to sell as loosing my storage space, and the car does not get driven as much as it deserves.
