Description

Selling our much-loved Leyland Sherpa Highwayman. We've had some truly amazing adventures in her over the years but sadly ( we're in our 70s) it is time to say goodbye to her. She is tax free and MOT free and is insured as a classic vehicle so those unavoidable costs are negligible. The B series 1800 engine and gearbox is really strong. Our favourite route to Wales takes us up and over a 1 in 4 hill that she always copes with. All the necessary mechanical maintenance has been done., engine, brakes, etc.
Inside she makes a delightful home on wheels with a full size very comfortable double bed over the cab plus a convertible dinet that makes a second double bed below.. She comes complete with absolutely everything you need to get away in her straight away : bedding, sheets pillows and pillowcases, pots pans, kettle and cutlery. All you need to do is put on board your personal belongings. You can walk through to the driving cab from the living area. This Highwayman is equipped with a separate washroom / toilet, a kitchen area with LPG hob ( 2 rings and a grill) a stainless steel sink with tap, plus a fridge and ( wait for it) a tiny WOODBURNER stove for cold weather use. All the lights are LEDs and she has both a starter and leisure battery.
She ( we call her Ilean) has loads of cupboard and wardrobe space plus lots of storage space under the two dinet seats. She also has an on board water tank and separate lpg gas locker. If I have one regret it is that I've not taken enough photos of Ilean. With her huge glass picture windows, we've been too busy capturing the glorious scenery and sunsets on our journeys. But a prospective buyers is VERY welcome to come and view. Everyone loves Ilean, she's such a very rare survivor so we find that she makes us friends when we travel in her.
She's an old vehicle so has a few problems that we're sadly too old to attend to. The ladder chassis is a marvel of heavy duty engineering but the front drivers cab has seen better days. The handling is a challenge as the wheelbase is narrow and the vehicle is tall.
She's over 45 years old so naturally doesn't have any form of on board computers or complications.
On the other hand the lack of techy stuff means that if things go wrong she's straightforward to work on.
I believe in this lovely old classic. Motorhome and have the confidence to know that she can be driven to her new home.
