Description
AUSTIN HEALEY 100/ 4M Le Mans BN2, 1956, RHD, with 4 disc brakes, that was bought in England on 1956 by a Greek gentleman driver who raced it there for a long period, before to bring it in the sunny Greece.
As soon as the car arrived in Greece, it was participating in races and hill climbs where it was classified on the first places in most of them. So, the car was raced in England and then in Greece for some years.
If this wonderful car could talk, it would have to tell us endless stories from the racing tracks it had run.
The car had from the beginning of its release the drum brakes, but very soon it was fitted with the 4 big disc brakes which were standard on the factory racing Austin Healey 100 S, but also were worn by extremely few Austin Healey 100/ 4M which were racing at the time. Even today the Austin Healey 100/ 4Μ with 4 disc brakes are extremely few. It was also produced with the M “Le Mans” specifications engine as with the so characteristic louvres bonnet of the 100/ 4M cars.
I bought this car on the late 70’s and from then I had some wonderful years driving it almost every day. I sold it after some years and I bought it again recently. I met the first owner two years ago as I spoke with him quite often and he told me again about his old racing times with this Austin-Healey 100M in England and Greece. He was already very old. In the past the car’s color was not the original white, but a very nice light blue metallic and it had no normal bumpers. Now wears its original bumpers and in new condition.
From mid 80’s to 1997 the car was out of action. On 1997 it underwent a light restoration, it was repainted in its original white color with red interior and took part in a few historic rallies until 2002. Since then the car has been permanently in its garage.
It is a real choice for the fans of the unique in beauty Austin Healey 100/ 4M, but with a racing past.
It is a sports car very special in its own right.
With the car will be delivered a very nice and big old painting (1. 5m X 1m) of an “Austin Healey 100 S” one of 55 "100 S" factory works racing cars that was raced at Le Mans on 1955 and 1956, by a painter specialized on paintings for old famous sports cars.
It is now in its garage awaiting its complete restoration by its next lucky owner or connoisseur who would like to discover and restore this racing Austin Healey 100/ 4M “Le Mans” appreciating the car’s glorious history and beauty and who wants to get a wonderful purebred sports car from the golden age of motoring for a very reasonable price.
