Description
Harley-Davidson 8-X-E, 1000cc 1912 in nice restored condition. Very rare motorcycle and the top model for 1912. It has been mechanically and cosmetically restored by Antique Bike in Sweden, with the intention to blend in the new parts with the existing original parts. It was originally sold new to Norway in 1912 and exported to Sweden in 2019 to be a part of a private Harley collection. The bike starts easy and has strong compression and is surprisingly quick for being 112 years old. The motor has matching number cases as well as cylinders and untouched motor number 5482 B.
The present owner had the intention to upgrade some of the parts and has located a higher quality clutch than the competition distributing clutch that is present on the bike today. He has also sourced a correct reproduction front fork and a spare oil tank, together with the clutch to the cost of 8 000 EUR. He was also able to find both an original frame, fork and front wheel as well as a rear stand that are rough but restorable. More than 10 000 EUR was invested in these original parts. A Video of the bike can be seen here; - details above was sold new in Norway, where it ended its days powering a sawmill until the previous owner found it and decided to restore it. Most of the restoration work was done by Micke Almrot at Antique Bike in Sweden. It was bought in 2019 and exported to Sweden, where it was titled and given an MOT, which is still valid.
