Description
Volvo 940 estate
First Registered 29/ 5// 1997
Automatic
Tyres all Good
Brakes all good
Mot till 24th May 2025
New Headlights ( these tend to tarnish inside so be careful when buying from someone else)
New Heavy Duty Battery
This was originally a London car so hardly any salt on the roads down that way so that's why it's in such good condition underneath.
No Advisories in the last 3 years of my ownership
can put a new MOT on it @ cost at local garage just around the corner if required
Will it pass it's next test (yes it will)
NO rot underneath (solid car)
Check it's mot history nothing about rot or corrosion mentioned, only things like a brake binding or worn tyres which are run of the mill items on every car, bulb not working that sort of thing.
Engine wise spot on.
Rear crank seal replaced as started to weep
Front crank seal and balance shaft seal replaced at the same time (see pic)
Remote locking with one key fob
can lock and unlock with just the key if you prefer
body condition good apart from a scrape on the passenger side rear wheel arch and door which was done by the previous owner, it's not rusting so I did not bother fixing it.
On a good day you probably wouldn't notice it.
If you know your Volvo's then you'll be aware that the top of the door cards tend to wrinkle with the sun and this car is no exception,
But Hey! nearly all 940 are the same!
Its been a second car used to do a bit of weekly shopping and to take our spaniels out to a local forest walk
It has a cage in the back which can come out in two minutes and the rear floor is clean and tidy as there is a rubber mat under the cage
Mot in 2022 showing 143K
Mot in 2023 showing 145K
Mot in 2024 showing 149K
Its now showing 152K on the clock so you can see its not done a lot in my ownership although I did do a trip from Scotland to Leyland and back the other week ( 200 miles each way ) and it sat on the motorway at just over the legal limit most of the way without any problems
Some would say at that mileage its just run in as these 2. 3 Red Block engines will easily do 5 or 6 hundred thousand miles, they are such a slow revving engine that at 3000rpm it's doing over 80 mph.
If you want a solid estate that plods around at 30 to 40 then buy a Volvo
On the other hand if you want an estate that can sit at the legal limit and above all day long then buy a Volvo
Only for sale as I tend to use my old Land Rover that is tax free
What more can I say
It's not the cheapest 940 but you'll not have to do any welding on this car.
The battery tray ( which rots on most Volvo's) is sound, jacking points again are solid and have never been welded.
All in all a solid 940 with very little electronics to go wrong unlike the modern stuff......... Speedo works , fuel gauge works, temp gauge works, rev counter works, odometer works, trip counter works, no unwanted warning lights on the dash.
You will find another 940 cheaper but this car has had all the oil seals done which if you put it into a garage would cost somewhere in the region of 600 quid maybe more.
So happy hunting for your next Volvo 940
just beware of what you are buying
