Description
Genuine numbers matching August 1968 built Triumph TR6C. Imported and registered in the UK in 2011.
Purchased from Classic Superbikes in March 2020.
I now have two other bikes and plan to keep my 69 Norton Commando so reluctantly selling the triumph as I have only done a few hundred miles since I purchased it.
It looks superb, it is very light compared to modern bikes (and the Commando!), fast and very economical with the single Amal carb.
The 69/ 70 bikes are judged to be the best years for the engine and braking improvements and prior to the OIF models. The front TLS is much better than the Norton version on my 69 Commando.
Since owning I have carried out a number of upgrades/ improvements:
External oil filter, Boyer Electronic Ignition, Battery charge indicator light, Sump guard, Indicators, New battery, Correct Grab Rail.
I swapped the original "Chip Basket" exhaust guard for the 1968 model guards which look neater but have the original stored safely
During the summer I noticed a rattle from the top end - stripped down and sourced to a loose valve guide. This led to a full top end rebuild in November/ December 2024.
Work done- New valve guide, 4x new valves, new mushroom valve adjusters, Bored and honed with new +020 Hepolite pistons and LF Harris rings.
There were also some annoying leaks from the pushrod tubes - I have now fitted the correct 1969 tappet blocks with new correct silicon seals top and bottom. Tappet blocks were then machined to give the correct +. 030 crush on the new copper head gasket. Base gasket also swapped for copper.
Also the primary chain was out of adjustment so I have just fitted a new chain (Regina £50) and adjuster.
I have all the receipts and images of the work completed.
