Description
Purchased by Jim Loveday in 1965.
Purchased by Gerry Brown in 1982 and kept by him until his death in 2021. Now owned by his wife.
MOT till Jan 8th 2026. Passed with no advisories.
All maintenance and servicing carried out at home, since Gerry's death by a fellow classic car specialist who has also driven it on track days. This is a very special and much loved car.
Gerry Brown's first rally in it was the 1990 Coppa D'Italia. He finished 2nd in class, 19th overall.
Two months after that, the car was borrowed by Stirling Moss, who drove it in the 1990 Pirelli Marathon from Tower Bridge to Cortina in Italy. He finished 3rd overall, just 3 seconds behind the second place team.
Also in 1990 was the GT race in the Eifel Klassik at the Nurburgring, finishing 2nd in class, 6th overall.
Many other rallies followed, including the 1993 historic Targa Rusticana, finishing second overall. Gerry would have easily won the event if he had not had an unplanned 10 minute off road excursion during a night stage!
The car had a few years off waiting for an engine rebuild, and its first outing after that was the unique Classic Mountain Challenge, in which Gerry and his navigator met the daily target of cols, and won the trophy for the most cols climbed during the week.
The last event Gerry competed in was the 2011 Winter Challenge Regularity rally, from The Netherlands to Monte Carlo.
Since Gerry's death, the car has been carefully restored by a fellow classic car specialist, who has driven it on track days, reporting that it handles and drives beautifully - a testimony to Gerry's engineering skills.
