Description
This 1930 raleigh MA30 is powered by a Raleigh 496cc side valve engine with a 3 speed hand change Sturmey Archer gearbox. The bike has very recently undergone a sympathetic restoration. Now mechanically sound and running well, with new old stock piston and rings, new taper roller wheel bearings, new control cables and tyres. There is a 3 brush Mag/ Dyno ready to accept the electric lighting of your choice and the paintwork has been refreshed. This model is quite a rarity, The owners club only has 6 of these bikes on their register. Of course, there may be more out there which have not been added to the register but even so, a very rare machine.
I am the spares officer for the owners club and obviously should you buy the bike, I would advocate that you become a member.
The club offers a wealth of information, both physical and anecdotal, from marquee and model specialists along with access to many of the parts you might need.
The club holds the only records of Raleigh Industries early output as the factory records were destroyed many years ago.
We take stands at some of the major events throughout the country and you will often find members on most vintage motorcycle runs.
Amongst a myriad of other things, your membership buys you a quarterly, full colour glossy magazine and access to the members only Facebook page which is both vibrant and well used, a machine dating and registration service and access to technical support from Raleigh experts.
