Description
Excellent running usable B GT. Since 2021 I have fully rebuilt the front suspension and steering, full braking system overhaul, four new tyres of the correct size, new battery, fuel pump, fully serviced engine, all fluids changed, carburettors overhauled and balanced/ tuned. I have also replaced the door cards with no speaker holes and fitted a stereo with in-built speakers as I don't like unsightly wiring. The engine runs like a watch and has excellent oil pressure, best I've ever seen on a B. Working overdrive, quiet transmission (diff shims also replaced). Interior is good, all gauges and lights work except the courtesy light, carpets worn in places, front seats have leather covers, very comfortable. I drove it to the MGB60 event at Gaydon in 2022 where it was displayed on the time line and it ran without fault. It looks to have been restored in the past as all four wings have been replaced and are corrosion free, the sills are solid as is the underneath, well protected. Rear suspension was replaced before I got it. The paintwork is poor, looks good from ten feet away and I've shown it many times but ideally it needs a good repaint and there is some minor corrosion in the door skins (door shells good). The cooling system was also fully overhauled and it runs nice and cool even in summer. It's a great example to use as is, I'm not precious about leaving it in car parks, etc. Very, very regretful sale as my brother owned this car back in 1983 when it was only five years old and I was thirteen at the time, I've loads of fond memories and it's this car that has given me a lifelong passion for MGs. Unfortunately my circumstances no longer permit me to keep hold of it, it took me 37 years to find it after my brother sold it and my intention was never to sell it. More photos will be addedMy brother bought the car in 1983 and I remember the original service passport (now long gone unfortunately) said it had been supplied by Henleys (Northern) Ltd Oldham, just over the Pennines from me. I researched the company and have had some correct dealer number plates made and a rear window sticker. Since I found it again in 2021 I've enjoyed reuniting it with my brother who has an identical car, they were both featured in MG Enthusiast magazine in late 2022 and more recently again last month for a rubber bumper buying feature.
