Land Rover Defender 130 300 TDi Restomod

For sale, a 1996 Land Rover Defender 130 HCPU Crew Cab with just 62000 Km that can be proven.

The car was originally supplied to a Portuguese Fire Fighter local brigade (BV Fronteira), hence the very low mileage. The original engine had to be replaced because it was broken while working on idle to driven a water pump during a fire fighting. The current engine was fitted about 20000 Km ago in a Land Rover dealership near Lisbon. We are trying to get the invoice of the service to add to the car history.

Sometime later, the car had an accident once again during a fire fighting. This time the car rolled over on a hill side and flattened the cab and bented the doors. Front and rear end suffered minor damage. Did not show any damages to frame and mechanical parts, but this time the Fire Fighter brigade decided it was time to not repair the car and sell it as it was to the civil market and ended up being bought by its current owner, a Land Rover enthusiast.

The current owner decided to build a Restomod. To help in the process decided to buy a donor vehicle to build a car as near as perfect. It means the car has its original vin plate, correct chassis number, original engine version and original gearbox, but not original engine number. It is not a totally “matching numbers” vehicle due to the situation described above.

The whole process of restoration was pictured to show to a future owner the work that was carried on in the car. Even the frame was disassembled (real frame off, stripped down of each item). Everything was completely disassembled, all nut and bolts zinc plated.

All mechanics were done, the engine was overhaul (not rebuilt), gearbox completely rebuilt, springs, shocks, brake pumps, clutch system, injection pump and all fuel system overhauled.

For this build, the owner choose to paint the car in Land Rover Keswick green. Each part was painted individually before assembly. To turn the car comfortable, a recent car interior was fitted – custom half leather with Isofix.

The original Air Conditioning/ Heating unit was replaced by a recent version supplied by Ministry of Defender. This system for itself exceeds 5000€ (system plus install labour). To help with the customization, the original dashboard was replaced by the dashboard of the donor car (TD5).

The car currently sits on BFGoodrich Mud terrains 235/ 85R16 on original Land rover wheels.

All MOT records available. The car is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.
