Description
1957 Austin A35 Speedwell LHD, historic registration Very rare model in Germany, especially as a left-hand drive and even more so with real power.
Extremely elaborately built vehicle inspired by the sporty Speedwell versions from the late 50's. Under the bonnet is a Metro Morris Marina A+ 1310 cc + 0. 40, with 276 Kent camshaft and adjustable duplex timing chain. The cylinder head has been converted to unleaded with 35. 7 mm intake and 29. 3 mm exhaust valves and a 1. 5 rocker arm shaft with roller bearings. Two SU HS4 carburettors with airbox and separate K&N air filter as well as an LCB manifold and a 1. 5" exhaust system with RC40 silencer contribute to the performance. An oil cooler and competition water cooler with electric fan keep the temperatures in check. A 5-speed Ford T9 gearbox allows easy gear changes and moderate engine speeds on long tours. A dual-circuit brake system with front disc brakes ensures the right deceleration. And the rack-and-pinion steering, a front stabiliser and the conversion to telescopic dampers at the rear round off the improvements. Thanks to contemporary tuning, the Austin also has historic approval (German H licence plate). The higher engine output and brake conversion are also registered in the papers. The A35 was built up by an experienced coachbuilder over a number of years and sensibly modified in the process. Only being sold due to new project. Extensive spare parts package and current valuation report available.... More on the phone...... 1957 Austin A35 Speedwell LHD, historical registration.
