56000 miles only and 1 noted Shropshire family owner from 1964 until my purchase.
Surely one of the finest and most original Silver Clouds in existence.
The gun barrel straight coachwork is finished in immaculate Black Pearl over Mason's Black with gold fine lines.
The completely original interior is totally untouched throughout and as close to perfect as you could wish for after 65 years. It could well be the finest surviving original Cloud interior extant. Original supple leather, headlining and carpets. Even all the wood varnish is factory original from 1960. A wonderful place to be with that time warp aura which is of course totally impossible to simulate by re trimming with new modern materials.
Owned and cherished by the same noted Shropshire family from 1964 until my purchase. Registered to their company and driven by the then elderly Mr Charles Snr and then passing to the late Mr Charles Jnr
Mr Charles Jnr had a position at Rolls Royce after the war before taking over the running of the family firm in the 1960's. The Rolls Royce was maintained and MOT'd over the years by the Rolls Royce factory service centre at Pym's lane Crewe, and additionally by the owner’s company workshop overseen by the meticulous Mr Charles, for regular oil changes etc between visits to the Rolls Royce factory service centre. There is much correspondence within the history file from Rolls Royce during this time.
After very occasional use in fair weather during the '60's, ''70's and '80's and at less than 56, 000 miles, the Silver Cloud was carefully mothballed by the owner, the late Mr Charles in 1992. Protected against moisture and UV light within a dehumidified dry and dark garage. Oil and anti-freeze were periodically changed with regular start ups to warm through. The leather was regularly fed and furniture polish applied to the original wood finishes.
Now in his 90's, Mr Charles, a friend whom I had known for over 20 years, made the wrenching decision to part with the Cloud. I had made no secret of my admiration for his "stand alone" Rolls Royce and I was pleased to be entrusted to become the next custodian and "safe pair of hands" who could be trusted to carefully recommission, conserve and "future proof" the Rolls Royce for the next chapter.
The Rolls Royce drives superbly with impressive and effortless V8 performance, excellent oil pressure and cool running (please see the pictures of the dashboard gauges). The rear axle is silent, the transmission changes are very smooth and are the best I have experienced on this model. Correct Dunlop Fort tyres. Excellent original cross hatch boot carpet is present as are all the original small and large tools.
A recent recommissioning programme has been recently carried out taking several hundred hours to ensure this Silver Cloud functions as intended and is future proofed. Details available.
This Silver Cloud has a provenance which would be hard to better and is by far the best and most original I have ever seen anywhere and at any price.
