Description
I have owned this MG for nearly 3 years, having bought it as a non runner. The previous owner told me it had spent most of its life in Australia, and the V5 states that it was imported into the UK in 2017.
In that time I have had the carbs fully rebuilt by a professional, fitted a new fuel pump, and now it runs and drives really well, with a warm oil pressure of 50 to 60 lbs. I have also fitted a new clutch master cylinder. The gear changes are smooth and precise with no undue noises from the gearbox or back axle. It has previously had the brakes overhauled, including a new servo. The wheels have been refurbished and the tyres are good.
Mechanically, it seems very good, however, the bodywork can only be described as fair. The inner and outer sills, floors, boot floor, doors, valences, and hatchback are all good, but both front wings, the bonnet, and the lower section of the nearside rear quarter need replacing or repairing, due to corrosion... See photos.. Both rear wing tops are excellent.... See photos. Every panel has some imperfections, so a full respray would be best.
The interior needs refreshing and the Webasto sunroof could do with replacing.
Overall, I would describe my Mg as a running restoration. I have tried to point out the main good bits, and not so god bits. I am selling it as a project, and there is bound to be other work to attend to, to bring it up to scratch.
