Description
I’m selling my 1990 Land Rover 110 EX military due to an arrival of another classic car which I’m starting to restore in January, I don’t have the time or money to keep both!
This one 110 is a lovely example that could do with some work on the interior. I have painted the exterior with satin NATO green paint! We have a spare can unopened of the same paint too for the interior. I have photos of this process from start to finish!
The chassis is original and absolutely rock solid! There is no rust anywhere. I believe this is due to it serving with the military in a hot climate for some time. I do have brief military history on the vehicle on request! It briefly served the Royal Logistics Corps and even was a field ambulance at some stage.
The engine is a 12J 2. 5 NA diesel. Sounds like a tractor and has plenty of pull. The engine went through a full recon in 2007 for the MOD. This has been designated on a small plaque in engine bay. MOT due in May 2025.
We have recently on the farm serviced all the differentials and changed the engine oil. We have also greased the prop shafts correctly as well as fitting a new rocker cover gasket. This was incredibly hard to fit and does leak at the back slightly, however these are very cheap to buy and simple to access.
Mechanically speaking it drives great! A super tight gearbox and stops well too. A test drive is welcome around our farm. A previous owner has fitted a ZF power steering system which works a treat. There is also a comedy air horn which I believe plays the tune tequila!
The interior can do with attention. We do have some spare pieces for the interior included in sale price! As well as a “bikini top”. This is very new and in good condition! The main canvas is in great condition and I believe is relatively new. To replace they can be £600 plus.
I have lots of paperwork from past servicing to a Haynes manual to parts ordered for the Land-rover.
Bad bits: there are a few oil leaks but I’ve been told this is typical of a Land Rover of this age and the handbrake can stick on occasionally.
I am very sorry to see this go, we’ve had an absolute blast owning it, turns heads and encourages discussion wherever you may go. Please do reach out if you have any questions. I bought this Land Rover as my first ever defender. We live on a farm in south Northamptonshire and having this enabled us to enjoy the farm even more! I mainly bought it as the chassis was rock solid. We repainted it in the summer in NATO green satin.
