Great car with lots of history. Imported in 2022 from France but due to new California CARB, can not register in this state.
Originally shipped to Washington DC in 1984 as a French Diplomat’s car (see original Smithsonian parking decals). It was shipped back to central France with the diplomat after his DC tenure, where it remained until 2016, when it was bought and moved to Biarritz as a surf wagon.
It lived in Biarritz until 2022 when it was shipped to the US in hopes of keeping her as a daily driver here.
Unfortunately, new CARB laws went into effect beginning 2022 and blocked the car from being registered in California, so it has been non operational since (besides strolls around the neighborhood to keep her warm every few weeks). I have given up on a registration work around, and figure someone else might have better luck getting her street legal.
Engine runs great. Car was in southwest France near the beach so some rust spots.
