For sale is my 1960 Riley 1. 5 Historic Rally Car which I have owed for 22 years. I am using it less and less and feel that it is time that someone else enjoys what is a very well looked after car.
This is a charming classic four-door saloon, which has been converted to historic rally specification and boasts competitive FIVA certification.
Under the bonnet is a rally-prepared 1. 5-litre inline-four, sending its power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
The odometer currently displays 18, 038 miles but the engine has been rebuilt a few times in its life.
The car has competed in numerous rally events including 14 x Rally of the Tests, Three Castles, The Summer Trial, The Winter Trial, as well as frequent one-day events, and has finished them all, with its last rally in November 2021.
The black and yellow paintwork is in generally fair condition, there is an area of surface rust on the bottom of the offside rear wing, as well as general small marks, scuffs, stone chips which are expected from a car that has been used competitively.
The car was retrimmed in 2006, which included the fitment of the front bucket seats, replacement of the door panels, rear seats, and the installation of the roll cage. The interior now shows signs of wear on the carpets, marks on the original dashboard, and scuffing on the seats. There are no electrical or mechanical faults with the vehicle.
The Riley’s most recent service was carried out in October 2020 at an indicated 17, 000 miles by Peter Banham Motorsport.
The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 17 June 2019 at an indicated 15, 459 miles, resulting in a clean, first-time pass. However, it is exempt from mandatory MOT testing due to its age, I just like the peace of mind.
