The Porsche 911 has come a long way before the arrival of the 996 generation, the fifth reincarnation of the iconic rear-engine sports car concept. Produced between 1997 and 2006, it differed from its predecessor mainly by introducing an entirely new platform and, for the first time, water-cooled engines. While still flat-six units, they now relied on liquid cooling instead of air. As for the engine lineup, various versions were available, all featuring four-valve technology, with some turbocharged variants (such as the Turbo). All-wheel drive was an option, and in addition to the coupe, a convertible and the traditional Targa were also offered.
The Porsche 911 offered here leans more towards the purist side, as it is the Carrera 2 version. The European model is powered by a 3, 596 cm³ engine with Bosch DME fuel injection, producing 320 hp at 6, 800 RPM and 370 Nm of torque. It meets Euro 3 emissions standards and features a three-way catalytic converter and lambda sensor. Weighing 1, 430 kg, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/ h in 5 seconds, with a top speed of 285 km/ h. Power is transmitted through a 6-speed manual gearbox.
This particular car is in excellent condition, with its elegant silver body enhanced by an aero package. With just over 100, 000 km, an overall original condition, and a history of regular servicing, it represents an outstanding opportunity for the growing number of enthusiasts seeking a 996-generation 911. At a fair price, it won’t stay on the market for long.
