What's for sale:
2007 BMW E86 Z4 coupe, 115K, FSH, silver, black leather, multi function steering wheel, heated leather sports seats, satnav, cruise, Xenons, auto lights, rain sensing wipers, 6-speed manual
About this model:
Bullet-proof 3. 0 litre N52, arguably BMW's finest 6 cylinder petrol engine, in a beautifully styled, some would say iconic fixed coupe body which is rarer, more rigid, more practical with a bigger boot and hatch and obviously more water-tight than the convertible version.
These cars are true sports cars, raw, firm, you do have to actually drive them. When it was launched, it was awarded five stars by Evo magazine, who praised it for its “classic proportions” and “fantastically precise engine”, and described the driving experience as “almost Caterham-like”.
The condition:
Good overall condition with a full service history to include wallet, owners manuals and stamped service book with lots of bills and MOTs.
Current advisory-free MOT to August 2025. No dash warning lights.
Plenty of recent maintenance as described below, the car has no oil leaks, no vacuum leaks, engine idles steadily, accelerates energetically, remains perfectly cool and returns 32mpg consistently. Good clutch condition and decent tyre tread although still in regular use so are mileage-dependent
Like any car with this age and mileage, it is not without some faults but presented here is an honest description of its present condition, the important and recent maintenance and what it needs in the future so you can arrive at a proper assessment.
Recent work:
* New Febi Bilstein rocker/ valve cover complete with all gaskets and new bolts
* Front suspension overhaul to include Sachs struts, Febi Bilstein top mounts, ARB bushes, drop-links, control arms, wishbones, tie-rods, basically everything except the springs which were fine
* 4-wheel alignment
* F&R discs and pads replaced 7K miles ago
* Water pump replaced 9K miles ago.
Known faults:
* Bonnet catch sticky, needs someone to push down while you pull the lever, very annoying!
* Aircon functional but not blowing ice cold
* Small hole in driver's bolster as shown
* Would benefit from a rear suspension refresh in due course to complement the recent front overhaul and optimise the ride and handling.
Will consider a rust-free Mercedes R129 SL or W124 under 100K miles, cash either way
