Description
Something different eye catching 1987 Yamaha DT125 LC YPVS
Original UK matching numbers bike showing 7, 933 miles. Registered on 29th September 1987. E91 MME.
The bike had been off the road for many years prior to me buying it.
This DT has been subject to a complete restoration taking many hours, I have spent well over £3, 000 on new parts and paint. As something different to the standard, the bike is in Yamaha Yellow which was never a colour available on the 125’s. The UK bikes didn’t have the powervalve functioning, but I have fitted a working powervalve servo to this bike. Since restoration is has stood as a show piece in my collection so needs running in and the usual two stroke fettling.
In brief the bike has benefited from:
Powder coated frame, footpeg hangers, swingarm, yokes, luggage rack, handlebars, yokes, and various brackets
Tank painted and sealed
All plastic panels painted
NOS Yamaha fuel tap
New decals
Complete engine rebuild including crank, rebore, Mitaka piston, all seals, new bearings, clutch, thermostat
Engine painted / powder coated in silver similar to DTR specification
Fully functioning power valve servo
Rebuilt carb with new carb kit
Nice original unrestricted 34X exhaust and original tailpipe blasted and painted in Wurth satin back exhaust paint
New master cylinder and front brake caliper rebuilt
New front brake pads
NOS disc guard
New rear brake pads
New NOS air filter
New fork seals and gaiters
New Continental tyres, tubes, and wheel tape. New wheel bearings
Wheels painted in yellow and black graduation
New grips, rubbers and footpegs
New clutch lever, brake lever and rubber shrouds
New chain and sprockets
New swingarm bushes
New battery
New indicators
New rear taillight
New NOS helmet lock
NOS side stand spring
Numerous NOS parts from CMSNL – rubber grommets, bolts, spacers, seals, chain guides, exhaust joint clamps, instrument dampers and clips etc.
NOS rear reflector and bracket
Uncut rear mudguard
Upgraded Carmo CDI which gives a much stronger spark and cleaner fuel burn
New seat cover, powder coated seat catches
New mirrors (copy)
All bolts either bright zinc or olive drab
A really nice bike in stunning overall condition and a great colour scheme, now ready to be run in and enjoyed. Though I cannot verify the mileage, following a complete rebuild the engine sounds very quiet and revs cleanly, obviously will require careful running in.
Photographs will come with the bike showing the restoration process.
Interest in the DT125LC’s is increasing, and values continue to rise, so such a nice example will be a great addition to any Yamaha enthusiast’s collection.
Asking £5, 950 onoCompletely unique colour scheme, you will not find another like this.
