I have for sale my much loved 1999 ‘V’ reg. Ducati M600 Monster Dark, which I am looking to rehome and mainly due to the need to raise funds, plus I also now have three other motorcycles and cannot ride them all regularly enough!
The bike is a late, special edition, ‘grey import’ and I do not think the very attractive and striking and distinctive colour scheme of dark metallic grey with red frame and wheels was available here in the UK - hence the import. Unlike many other Monsters of this period for sale the condition is also nicely original with standard exhausts and seat etc.
There is some deterioration of the painted finishes to the frame ancillary components and cycle parts etc. and engine covers in places that is not usual on these bikes, but the general condition is good considering the twenty-five years of age and reflecting the limited miles covered.
The instruments are original and in kms but also have miles indicated alongside and the low fuel warning light does not function correctly that I understand is a common fault and quite easily fixed.
I have owned the bike since 2019 and in that five-year period covered a relatively trouble-free 6, 200 miles and the current mileage is 16, 250. The last Mot was passed on 10th September this year and there were no advisories.
There have been numerous routine service tasks and other replacements and improvements carried out in my ownership with over £750 spent and most necessary tasks addressed and the bike performs very well and is a real pleasure to ride:
- Speedo cable inner replaced.
- Engine oil and filter changed 10, 625 miles in 2021 (5, 625 miles since).
- Chain and front and rear sprockets replaced in 2021.
- Front tyre replaced (Bridgestone) in 2021.
- Rear brake pads replaced.
- Fuel filter replaced.
- Battery replaced.
- Spark plugs replaced (NGK).
- Front brake pads replaced (Brembo) in 2023.
- Spark plugs leads and caps replaced.
- Rear tyre replaced (Bridgestone) in 2023.
- Mirrors replaced (Ducati).
The engine timing belts have not been changed to my knowledge and should ideally be replaced, despite the very low mileage, due to age and especially if more extensive use is planned, although I have carried out some visual checks and everything looks fine. I understand the cost to supply and fit new belts is around £300 and that is reflected in the asking price.
I am including a good quality colour-coded paddock stand, which is necessary for maintenance to remove and clean the back wheel and adjust the chain etc., plus a Haynes Manual and copy of 'The Ducati Story' as essential reading!
