The Mercedes SL series W 113, to which this 280 SL belongs, was also known as the "Pagoda" because of the shape of its hardtop. It replaced two SL predecessor models. Equipped with six cylinders, the Pagoda was positioned in the middle of the outgoing 190 SL and the very sporty 300 SL in terms of performance. The new roadsters thus offered dignified and superior dynamics in a timelessly elegant, sporty guise paired with more comfort. The Pagoda is a classic car, sporty, solid and, even back then, usually equipped with power steering and brake booster. This Mercedes 280 SL Pagoda with its 170 hp is the last expansion stage of the model series and was designed by the factory to be even more comfort-orientated. Delivered in 1969 with the optional automatic transmission, the convertible offers dignified and superior open-air enjoyment.
