Description
Superb history !!!
Build code LS, July 71 registered as HLA 208K.
One of 17 fleet cars built by AVO and then race prepared at Boreham, specifically loaned to Ford Franceto support the Tour de France Automobile in September 1971.
They ran them at a number of circuits in a journalist challange series, each car allocated to a French regional newspaper most likely as a Ford marketing excercise.
They were returned to the UK after the tour was complete and these cars were then most famous for the one-off F1 Team Managers Race for the Jack Brabham Trophy at Brands Hatch on October 24th , 1971. This particular car HLA 208K was driven by none other than Colin Chapman.
The fleet was then sold, some of the cars appearing in the Mexico Challenge in 1972 or raced in rallies. This may well explain why so few now remain.
We sincerely believe only 3 other examples have survived.
A true Classic !!A truly superb example
