Description
The owner is reducing his collection of classic cars, Mercedes and MGs in the UK.
This original, first registered on 6th March, 1962, MGA 1600 Mk2 has been owned by the current keeper since 15th April, 1975 and infrequently driven since then, as he normally resides overseas.
The original logbooks show 11 previous keepers of which most appear to have changed every year or two up to 1975 when the current keeper acquired it. Three of the immediate previous keepers were known to the current owner.
Last driven on the road briefly in 2006 and dry stored since. Original engine (rebuilt in 1973 by the previous keeper) and gearbox.
The car was the subject of a body off restoration during the mid-1980s having the chassis repaired, blasted and stove enameled, new wiring loom, stainless steel exhaust, new bumpers. Seats, trim, carpets reupholstered, hood and tonneau cover replaced and body repainted. Original side-screens are still on the car with perspex in good condition.
MOT and Road Tax exempt, registered as an Historic Vehicle.
Recent recommissioning has taken place with many new parts fitted, mainly:
Ignition Coil
Electric Starter Solenoid
Heater Matrix
Radiator Core
Water Pump
Master Cylinder Seals
Clutch Slave Cylinder Seals
DOT 4 Brake/ Clutch fluid
Engine Block Flushed + Distilled Water added + Antifreeze
Electronic Indicator Relay fitted under dashboard, retaining the original Lucas Can type Flasher Unit for originality (the latest Chinese “Lucas” flashers do not operate the dash lamp!)
2 New 6 Volt 80 Ah Batteries
Inner wings splash panels
Carburetor floats
Heater Control Panel
Headlamp bowls (Waxoyled) + seals, bowls to body and headlamp rims
Engine oil/ filter and gearbox oils renewed
Has the original reliable engine (rebuilt in 1973) and gearbox. The car is not considered ‘concours’ but in the hands of an enthusiast can be brought up to that condition.
5 good Michelin Tyres fitted.
Includes many spare parts, too numerous to mention, plus an early intact MGA 1500 cc engine block complete with sump, camshaft, crankshaft and pistons. This engine was fitted to an earlier owned Mk 1 1500 MGA roadster and changed out for an MGB 3 bearing engine. It will need a rebuild.
This vehicle is “Sold As Seen”, on an “As Is Where Is” basis, without warranty.

Genuine buyers only, no time wasters or scammers please! The current keeper bought this MGA from his best friend who "had to get married" in 1974 then lent it back to him to go on honeymoon!
The MG drives well and has plenty of power to take on modern traffic.
