Description
car bought in covid for a project during those bleak times. Last run in 1994 (tax disc in windscreen) and was fully stripped. Huge amounts of plating and rot plus no engine. Engine failed in 1994 and original lost. New engine located and overhauled before fitting. Replacement engine was correct for vehicle with original remote gearbox and rubber donut drive shafts. The engine itself was in very good condition when stripped so was cleaned and reassembled but gearbox was sent to an expert and had essential new parts fitted giving it a complete clean bill of health with new clutch plate.
Body was of course in a terrible condition with rot to floor, wings, scuttle ends, doors, over sills, front panel etc etc. All rot completely cut out and new panel or new metal welded in. new rear subframe fitted and all mechanicals renewed and over overhauled. All components painted and looking very smart.
Underneath was completely seam sealed, stone chipped and over painted in 2 pack in body colour. Car painted in 2 pack with Tahiti blue and snowberry white roof. Interior restored as original and everything works as it should. new rubber fitted everywhere including tyres with spare included.
Paintwork is not superb but is good, engine compartment looks great and everything is original. Car does have an after market sunroof that is thought o have been fitted from the dealer and is of the era but no direct evidence but works fine.
Sadly i had a heart attack near the completion so the last few bits had to wait but have completed it and must now sell it . This is a great restoration but of course is not a professional job . if it were it would have been priced at anywhere well over 10/ 15 K plus i am not asking that for it.
It is a long story but I had a long drawn out job getting my log nbook back which I will gladly explain when face to face. But car has now been given the registration doc with original details and reg number . But as yet I have not used it on the road. hoping to shortly
