Description
La dolce vita on four wheels.
1978 Fiat 126, known by friends as "The Pea" - Italian built and right-hand drive.
I would argue this is the best condition 126 available today. An Italian car rather than the more common Polish-built examples. It has covered just 23, 000 by it's two owners from new. More recently it has a new Alcantara headlining by a professional coachtrimmer and new carpets too. The seats, dashboard, etc are all in fantastic condition and very clean as expected being looked after by a detailer. The Pea has been lowered slightly and has the addition of 1932 Ford hubcabs which I believe all help this car stand out - if the green paint didn't already! There was a very small patch of rust on the driver's side but this has since all been sorted and the whole car given a full respray to a very high standard.
The current owner is a specialist automotive engineer so anything that has ever needed doing has always been done making this a get-in-and-go classic, and what a car to do that with!
I can honestly say I never knew 2 cylinders and 24bhp could provide so much driving joy.
I am selling this on behalf of a good friend who just isn't getting the time to use it, I have put more miles on "The Pea" in the past 3 years than he has. Why don't you buy it myself I hear you ask? Well, mortgage and space, otherwise I wouldn't think twice. Italian built and UK supplied new. Right-hand drive, 23, 000 miles.
This 126 gets more attention at car shows than most modern supercars - tested several times.
A get-in-and-go classic.
No car has put a smile on my face more than this one.
