Mercedes C240 Elegance for sale.
I have owned this car since December 2020 and I originally bought it as a temporary replacement for my C180 Elegance whilst some work was being carried out on it. I could have bought any old banger for this purpose, but I enjoy my older cars, the comfort they provide and their quality.
I enjoyed this car so much that I ended up keeping it !!!
This is a very, very reluctant sale, because it really is a lovely car.
the interior is excellent. the only really noticeable wear is on the steering wheel from thumb wear ! and the fabric door surround/ seal on the drivers door. However, this car does comes with a full set of seals so can be easily rectified.
The paintwork is maroon/ dark red. The bumpers are the same colour but in a matt finish (this is how it left the factory).
The condition of the bodywork is excellent - there is one small, and it is small, dink which is hard to spot unless you look very closely on the offside front door panel. Apart from this there are two small areas of rust on the edge of wheel arch - photos of which I have included. The two rubber gaskets on the front wings, behind the arches sepaprating the top and lower panels need replacing - minor.
On the bumpers there is some stone chipping but this does not detract from the cars appearance. Also it is not a big issue to sort out.
The build quality of the car is excellent, it is before Mercedes started to use lower quality panels for the bodywork so it is very solid and less prone to rust. I can testify to this as my C180 elegance (year 2000) had both front wings renewed by me !!!
As you would expect it is lovely to drive. The 2. 4ltr V6 engine is very smooth, the power is there if you need it, but it is great just cruising along in comfort. There are no mechanical issues with the engine or gearbox.
All peripherals work as they should - cruise control, electric mirrors, electric windows etc. As I have not driven the car for a long time I have checked them all.
The wheels - I have had them refurbished and they are excellent, right down to new centre badges. All tyres are new with minimal wear.
The car as far as I know is 100% original, which includes the stereo.
The service history is very good, I have included photos of pages from the service book. It comes with all the receipts I hold for work carried out, plus the original Mercedes handbook in its holder.
There are two sets of keys - there is one strange quirk about these keys - one of them will not start the car. I don't know why this is, but as I have 2 keys I have never really stopped to think about it.
The car comes with a new MOT which expires on 11/ 12/ 2025 (No advisories).

Like earlier C class Mercedes models this will be a future classic. However, for me, the W202 will be the last of the potential C class classics and ironically it finishes during the production of this model when they switched to using lower quality materials. Subsequently, in my opinion, the design of the C class has been very poor - from the shape of the body to the bog eyed headlights.
The design and build quality of this C class are excellent - from its stand out interior upholstered in ivory MB Tex to the very pleasing striking maroon/ dark red bodywork.
