Description
First registered 1-2-81 this last of the carburettor versions was the most powerful of the three guises. This version has 252bhp whilst the next model being the injection car only produced 211bhp. So along with the fabulous induction roar it makes the carb versions the most desirable!
This car is the actual London Motor Show display model, testament of this can be found on U Tube with Noel Edmond’s presenting and also a letter from the legendary Ferrari Guru Tony Willis confirming such is on file with the history. Also with the history are the original order form and bill of sale etc from Maranello sales at Egham.
This car between 2015 -16 was properly nut and bolt/ bare metal restored/ resprayed in the original factory colour of Argento Auteil.
The body shop bill alone was £30 and was carried out by the renowned P and F autos of Stoke on Trent.
Engine and gearbox were rebuilt by GT Motorsports of Stoke on Trent at the same time.
The complete chassis was stripped bare and all the suspension bushes were replace along with New Koni Classic dampers and discs/ callipers. New Superformance replica alloys were fitted as was a complete stainless exhaust and header kit (£1600 alone!)
She rides on Pirelli 225 50 Cinturato tyres which were fitted by QV of London( along with the new wheels) in 2021 and the vehicle has only been driven 3000 miles since.
Also at this time QV replaced the O/ S fuel tank at a cost of £1500.
The complete leather interior has been meticulously replaced and completed in the gorgeous original colour of Rosso Rubino.
There are two large photo albums accompanying the car that show everything that’s been done.
Also comes with two folders of invoices and old MOT’s that prove the original and low mileage.
The car has its all important COMPLETE tool roll to include the correct plug spanner, the correct spanner’s and screwdrivers. And also the emergency window winder and carb tool.
The jack and wheelbrace bag is also complete down to the intact spare bulbs and fuses container.
The original Ferrari in-scripted inspection lamp is present along with its pouch.
The original Prancing horse book holder and all service books etc are present as is the ultra rare unopened AGIP chamois cloth!
These accessories alone would be very difficult to obtain and I would be confident that they would cost between 4-5k to obtain.
TheThe car was sold by Slades Garage to the owner whom I purchased the car from in 2001. (Advert and description in photos) As you can see only 3000 miles has been covered since.
Also you will note that my asking price is £10k less than he purchased the car for!
Therefore somewhat of a bargain today I would say.
This is the third and by far the best 308gts I have owned ….. and the truth is I’ve only owned it since earlier this year but sadly I’ve been diagnosed with requiring both knees replacing and along with awful back pain and these cars having a heavy clutch….. I’m struggling to both drive her and get in and out!
In fact with the roof on it’s a sight to be seen ha ha.
So I’m after a classic 911 which will be easier.
This 308 is not only stunning but will last for years.
Both cam belts and tensioner bearings have just been renewed along with oil and filters. Carbs cleaned and set up. New Iridium plugs ( what a difference!)
So along with another coat of polish next week she is 100% and ready to go.
NOTE
I am open to sensible close offers ….. I doubt there’s a better one for sale and these are definitely a good future investment.
I think I can safely say that to achieve the same result when restoring a similar car today that it would cost far more than I’m asking for this one!
