1953 Jaguar XK120 DHC Right Hand Drive
Presented in its stunning Cream/ Old English White finish, on steel wheels with the Spats to compliment the Jaguars wonderful sweeping curves.
Supplied new in 1953 as a RHD UK Home Market Car.
The colour as per Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate is Cream.
This is a very early production number Drop Head Coupe car, the chassis number being: 667014.
Build Date 23rd September 1953, stating it as the 14th DHC produced.
Dispatched on the 12th October 1953 to Original Distributor Henley's Limited, London.
OGW 601 was the UK registration number on the car when I registered it localy in Guernsey, I have been advised that it should go back on to the car if it is repatriated with the UK from Guernsey. The current local registration number being 12034 (which will not stay on the car on export).
As you will notice in the photos, this car has the early slim letter box rear window/ screen, which is sat in the original hood/ roof, still fitted to the car.
It is an all matching numbers car, with a chassis that has never had or needed any repair or welding, and best of all it is still with all its original running gear. A super solid and original chassis, with all original matching numbers to match. A Stainless Steel exhaust and an Alloy Fuel Tank have been fitted to the car.
An all round honest car, such cars with this original feel and factory fitted components and parts are few and far between nowadays, a true enthusiasts car, there are very few XKs about now with all this charm and originality.
The bodywork, it's very straight and as you will see from the bare metal stripped photos, it was professionally prepared, checked over by a master craftsman, any minor corrections were made and painted professionally too, with an element of understanding that these old Jags want and need...
The car has had a complete bare metal respray.
The Interior is beautifully original red leather, the original carpets and door trims battery compartment etc are installed, it is hard to beat a good original Jaguar interior. The hood inner roof lining has moth holes but it's original and the woodwork dash door capping etc are still as from factory too.
Mechanically it's always been a well maintained car, by myself and the previous keepers. Since my ownership I have dismantled, cleaned and stripped down the front suspension painted all the suspensions arms, etc and installed all new front suspension bushes, greased it all to specifications and kept it all clean and serviced. This car has such a smooth ride. The drum brakes have been serviced thoroughly, all the back plates were painted, slave cylinders stripped honed and tested and they work as well as an early XK drum brake car does. The fly off hand brake works a treat, which is a lovely feature of the XK in my opinion.
The clutch and gearbox are smooth, changing up and down nicely between gears, the twin cam 6 cylinder engine holds good oil pressure and temperature and purrs into life at the press of the start button, and as with all XK engines it pulls like a train. A harmonic exhaust note like a symphony along with the wonderful Moss Box as you coast along effortlessly. All was recently serviced, with all the old oils and fluids changed, the radiator flushed and new hoses fitted, and a new Thermostat housing and Stat installed, points, carbs set up etc too.
All of the Wiring has been replaced with a new original spec' fabric covered loom, all done to the original Jaguar specifications, it works beautifully too.. The headlamps are in great order and are bright and a pair of new side lights and new rear light clusters and chrome pedestals fitted too.
4 new Avon TurboSpeed tyres and new inner tubes are fitted, to complement the wheels which are freshly refurbished and painted. It's such a wonderful car, and I have priced it at an enthusiast price point too. This is a wonderful car, the next custodian will love it, the driving style and experience is fantastic and a pleasure to drive..
It has a very good history file including Jaguar Heritage Certificate and old Buff Log book from first owner onwards.
This is an all round useable and enjoyable car, used regularly as a summer daily car. I keep it garaged in a dehumidified environment, and it's been on the drive on dry sunny days this year as I use it when ever I get a reason too. Who wouldn't?
Guernsey is not too far away by boat or plane, if you wanted to come see the car please do.
Collection would be best by sea, simply come over on a day trip as a foot passenger on Condor Ferries and drive it home. I'm walking distance to the ferry terminal.
Come see the car, become an XK owner, they are a wonderful entry to classic car ownership with Jaguars great racing thoroughbred Heritage and a superb following too, you could join the XK CLUB for instance and enjoy their road trips and many club events worldwide.
Parts are readily available making them an easy car to own and there are many great restoration and service industry companies in the UK and Worldwide who can maintain such cars.
It's a classic car so as you can expect, 'Sold as Seen' terms of sale.
