Description
The E23 played a pivotal role in enhancing BMW's development and its position among rivals. Although the previous E3 saloon was a capable vehicle, it never achieved the same level of desirability as the then-current Mercedes S-Class. The E23 transformed this dynamic, marking the first instance of a truly formidable German contender in that market segment.
This last production BMW 735i from the E23 era stands out as a remarkable specimen of luxury and performance. Beneath its hood lies the renowned 3. 4-liter M30 Inline-6 power plant, delivering 218bhp to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
This vehicle is elegantly finished in the striking Cosmos Blue Metallic (185) with a luxurious Pacific velour interior.
Originally supplied in the UK, it has had only three owners since its debut. First registered in 1986, it served as a demonstrator vehicle for the BMW dealership G Eric Hunt Ltd. The registration plate (D735 HWU) was carefully selected by the supplying dealership to match the model.
The car stayed within the dealer network (BMW Contract Hire) until 1989, when it was sold to a gentleman who would serve as its custodian for the next 30 years.
This car is equipped with an impressive array of features that are typically not seen in vehicles from the 1980s. Highlights include electric front seats, electric windows and mirrors, cruise control, an onboard computer, air conditioning, and a retractable rear blind. It has a leather M-Tech 1 Steering Wheel.
