Description
1970 Morris Minor 1000 Traveller, in Snowberry White with Black interior trim. This is a lovely example of the now iconic ‘Traveller’, first shown to the public in 1953, as part of the restyled Series II range of Minors. The Travellers were produced until April 1971, so John, leaving the production line in June 1970, is quite a late example of the breed.
Outside, the bodywork and woodwork presents very well indeed, having been subject to a thorough restoration in recent years. The woodwork is all solid and has had a recent coat of varnish, giving many more years of service. The paintwork is bright and even, with only a few minor marks here and there from the previous, elderly owner. The chrome is also in excellent condition with the absolute minimum of pitting.
Inside, the seats and door cards are all complete and in excellent condition, reflecting the 80k miles completed so far. There is a factory heater installed, which not only works, but works incredibly well! There are seatbelts installed in the front, but not in the rear, though kits are available.
The boot looks like it has not seen any use since the restoration. A spare wheel and toolkit are present and correct under the boot floor.
Underneath, the Traveller is in excellent condition also, with a recent coating of underseal and disc brakes fitted to the front wheels.
On the road, John starts first time, idles nicely and pulls strongly through the gears. The ride is quite and compliant, the steering direct and the brakes strong. The engine has had one of our standard NDCC tune-ups, as well as a full service at the workshop, so he wants for nothing for the next owner to enjoy him!
