Description

Lovely restored 1984 Yamaha RD125LC Mk1 in Chappy Red
Matching numbers 12A UK bike showing 10, 172 miles. Registered in August 1984.
This RD has been subject to a complete restoration taking many hours. I bought it as a part restored bike that had lived in someone’s loft for many years, so a loft find rather than a barn find. Since restoration is has stood as a show piece in my collection so needs running in and the usual two stroke fettling. Sounds great with the Allspeed exhaust. Pretty sure I will regret selling this one, as I have with all of the other RD125LC’s I have restored in the past. It really just needs to be on show as part of a collection.
Very difficult to value as this bike has so many rare NOS parts and a Metmachex swingarm which I have never seen on an RD125LC before. I’m sure you can appreciate the high cost of some of these parts, even if you could find them now.
In brief the bike has benefited from:
Paintwork completed by Dream Machine with new decals (completed by previous owner)
Wheels powder coated (competed by previous owner)
Complete engine rebuild including crank, rebore, Mitaka piston, all seals, clutch
Rebuilt carb with new carb kit
Metmachex swingarm
New Allspeed exhaust
Chrome radiator guard
Powder coated frame, yokes, luggage rack, handlebars, centre stand, side stand, and various brackets
New master cylinder and front brake caliper rebuilt
New front brake pads
New front brake hose
NOS disc
New rear brake pads
New NOS air filter
NOS Yamaha fuel tap
New fork seals
New tyres, tubes, and wheel tape. New wheel bearings
New NOS grips
NOS fairing rubber trim
New clutch lever and brake lever
New chain and sprockets
New swingarm bushes
New battery
NOS wiring harness
NOS headlamp
New indicators with new original style pinch bolts
New rear taillight
New NOS helmet lock
New NOS rear shock
New NOS stator and flywheel
NOS side stand spring
Numerous NOS parts from CMSNL – rubber grommets, bolts, spacers, seals etc.
NOS rear reflector and bracket
Uncut rear mudguard
New seat cover
New mirrors (copy)

A really nice bike in stunning overall condition and a great colour scheme, now ready to be run in and enjoyed. Though I cannot verify the mileage, following a complete rebuild the engine sounds very quiet and revs cleanly, obviously will require careful running in.
Photographs will come with the bike showing the restoration process.
These RD125LC’s are always popular, and values continue to rise, so such a nice example will be a great addition to any Yamaha enthusiast’s collection. The only small downside for the purists is the headlamp fairing, front mudguard, and belly pan are not original Yamaha and came as part of the Dream Machine painted body kit. Price reflects the cost of many of the very rare parts.
