Description
This classic 88in Series IIA Land Rover is looking for a new home following the death of its long term owner. In pick-up configuration, with a truck-type cab and sliding rear window, it has been treated to a new galvanised chassis and an engine rebuild but is otherwise in very original condition. The body panels in bronze green are sound and a roof and side panels are included to convert the rear load space to a hard top covered area. A tow bar is fitted.
Considered by many to be the hardiest of all Series Land Rovers, this Series IIA is a UK market RHD version which requires only limited work to put it into full commission but could also be the basis for a very viable total restoration project.
The 2. 25 litre diesel engine starts readily. Fitted with freewheeling hubs, the wheels and tyres are in very good condition.
The three-abreast front seating needs refreshing, The instrumentation and switchgear are all present and the cab is fitted with a heater and fire extinguisher.
The V5 is present and shows it registered as a Historic Vehicle. As such it is exempt from road tax and MOT. The documents include previous MOT certificates up to 2017, an early maintenance record, and a pictorial record of the chassis installation and subsequent rebuild, together with both Haynes and Brooklands Books Workshop Manuals. It is currently on SORN.
