Description
Welcome to the sale of my Porsche 911/ 996 Carrera 2, Generation 2, Balsalt Black coupe, non sunroof specification. There are six former keepers and currently an MOT until April 2025 with no advisories and very few miles since the 2024 MOT. The car can re-enter the MOT center for a fresh 12 month MOT if desired, at no extra cost to the potential buyer.
I brought the Porsche in 2015 and had spent around six months sourcing the correct one for my requirements. My number one requirement was an ultra clean, well-maintained, preferably MPSH or PSSH.
Being an expensive investment, I started thinking that I'd be more comfortable purchasing a Porsche from a Porsche specialist company, even though there were some fantastic examples on the private market and also car traders/ dealers. Eventually I narrowed the search down to three cars; a silver 40th anniversary silver 996 (which was very nice), a 52000 mile manual black 996 (again, very nice) and lastly, my car, now for sale, which in 2015 was a 64000, ultra clean, black 996 with full main dealership plus Porsche specialist service history.
I purchased the car from Cameron Porsche in West Littleton, just outside of Bath. This company are all passionate about everything Porsche and even have early genuine Porsche tractors, along with an abundance of early 911s through to to modern cars for sale at their showroom and premises. I even watched on the TV program "Wheeler Dealer" the then owner, Ian, sell a well-worn 993 hard top cheaply to the presenter for a light project to then sell on at a profit, which it did with ease.
The car was subject to a 111 point inspection. All personnel at Cameron Porsche sports cars were ex-main dealership staff ranging from sales men through to mechanics, detailers and customer service. A lot went into that 111 point service, including a new windscreen where a chip had been spotted in the old one, full service and everything else subject to the list.
In my ownership, the car has been used very sparingly and on the whole as a pleasure vehicle. I have attended many Porsche events with Porsche GB where, on one occasion, the car was photographed in conjunction with an 911 anniversary which adds charm to the paper trail of the comprehensive annual/ mileage service history along with changed brake disks and pads, all round alternator, battery, water-pump, and full clutch kit including dual mass flywheel and the main oil seal. Although the IMS bearing failure is catastrophic to a 996, when I did change the complete clutch and dual mass flywheel, I was keen to replace the IMS bearing at the same time. Warren at Western Porsche advised me that, although there have been cases, the statistics are extremely low and unfortunately, a hysteria had crept in about the failure of the IMS bearing when, in his experience, it wasn't a necessity and, in fact, changing the dual mass flywheel was more beneficial, as some people do not change this when they change the clutch. Upon researching this myself, statistics say 4% of models manufactured between 2000 and 2005 suffered from a faulty IMS bearing.
Always maintained, regardless of cost, always MOT-ed every year, always garaged in my ownership and must have been before (based on the records).
To summarize; a lovely, well-maintained, classic, manual Carrera 996 which will hopefully be used to its full potential for the next fortunate owner. Please refer to the photos of the A1 leather terracotta interior with leather terracotta steering wheel too. I include below a comprehensive selection of main dealership and specialist Porsche service history records. Please refer to the photographs to view the MOTs and invoices of additional works carried out in conjunction wit the service schedule which will bring peace of mind to the next prospective buyer, reflecting a very well-maintained, cared for and loved Porsche 996.
