Description
1973 Elan +2 130/ 5 Big Valve engine.
This vehicle has been completely nut-and-bolt restored to a personalised specification: Colour is now a 2022 British Racing Green IV over Silver roof with a slightly heavier metal flake, original oatmeal interior, restored walnut dashboard, green carpets.
This Elan came with a maroon over silver roof colour, and over 870 hours labour the car was completely stripped, the body was split from its chassis, all glassfibre work was done by a specialist, the galvanised chassis was refurbished but needed hardly any work, and the body was repainted in 2022 British Green IV. The engine was refurbished to original specification, the carburettors were rebuild, the gearbox was opened up and fully checked and refurbished were necessary, every component and ancillary was checked, refurbished or renewed.
The alloys were refurbished, powder coated and diamond cut, after which new tyres were mounted.
Perhaps not to everyone’s taste, all chrome was “Shadowlined” in black satin paint, with the original oatmeal interior preserved. There are minute “nips’ in the rear centre section, but otherwise the interior is remarkably well preserved.
It would be impossible to reproduce a restoration to this specification at current specialist rates, but this Forever Lotus is regrettably needing to be sold for health reasons.
We have a large file of bills, parts and receipts from the restoration, and approximately 230 photographs to show every stage of its progress.
This will be a private sale from its 76 year old musician owner. We have a number of historical MOT certificates, and a current V5C. This vehicle falls under the MOT exemption and has historical nil rate road tax.
