Lamborghini Countach Re-creation
This car is an early ‘Mirage’ Countach, 5000 QV.
It looks stunning and is a very well built re-creation, not to be confused for your normal ‘kit car’
The body is dimensionally perfect but in fibreglass rather than aluminium, having been moulded from an original car. Plenty of history online about how this came to be.
This car also has the ‘Koenig Turbo’ style side skirts, telephone dial split rim alloy wheels and huge delta wing rear spoiler fitted.
The chassis was reputedly designed by Lee Noble (prior to founding Noble sports cars) and is a full steel spaceframe, and in excellent condition.
The suspension mimics the genuine article being double wishbone front and twin trailing arm rears. Much like the genuine article it is fully rose jointed throughout. It sits on Spax adjustable coil over dampers, with twin dampers per rear corner.
The hubs, handbrake mech, vented brake discs and Brembo 4 pot callipers are all early Porsche 911 derived. This was not a cheaply built car!
The car sits on a stunning set of 15 inch, 3 piece alloy split rim wheels, made by Image Wheels with highly polished rims.
The interior is as good as the outside. Many replicas are let down by the interior so the car has recently been retrimmed to get it as close as possible to a genuine car.
The white with contrasting navy blue is a striking colour combination.
The seats, door cards, dash, gated shifter, side pods, steering wheel and centre console are the most accurate I have seen. Dials are also correct Lamborghini items. It is a very nice place to be.
Many re-creations are let down by their power plant, but not this car.
Engine wise she is fitted with a Chevrolet small block V8. It started life as a 5. 7, but I have receipts for a crank regrind, overbore and larger pistons. This takes the capacity to nigh enough 6L. The engine is fitted with a Holley 4 barrel double pumper carburettor on a sports inlet manifold. Ignition is a Mallory 123 unit. The exhaust uses sports tubular headers which feed into the correct ANSA 4 tip tail pipe
Gearbox wise she has a manual 5 speed, from a 986 Porsche.
Uses lots of genuine Countach parts, levers, lights, badges, correct Carello fog lights etc etc
Comes with a huge file of paperwork and receipts. V5 in my name and has a nice age related registration.
This is a great looking car and everyone stops to look at it, take pictures and ask a million questions. So not for the shy and retiring type!
It’s as close to the real thing you will find for the money. These days a nice 5000QV is £4-5-600K if not more! So this seems like a bit of a bargain.
