Description
I’m offering the opportunity to become the 5th owner of my Jaguar MK2. This car comes with such an extensive history dating back to when it was bought new by Mrs Hughes of Swindon in May 1965, at which time it was powered by a 2. 4-litre engine.
She had the car until 1987 and covered some 75, 000 miles, had it well looked after and it comes with the booklet recording the car`s regular services as well as its green logbook.
The second owner added a further 27, 000 miles to the total. He wanted to use the car for European tours including the Basque and Bilboa Classics and set about replacing the original 2. 4-litre engine with the notably beefier 3. 4-litre which gave a higher final drive ratio to the car’s all-synchromesh gearbox (with overdrive) which made it more comfortable for touring.
In 2012 the car underwent a significant bare metal restoration and embarked upon a lengthy period of work to overhaul and upgrade the, brakes, suspension and steering, along with fitting painted wire wheels with knock-on spinners and Coombs wheel-arch spats at the rear although it remained and still is, in its original colour of Indigo Blue, photos of its bare metal restoration are in the history file.
The restoration was then complemented by a full retrim in its original Grey leather upholstery, with new carpets, headlining ensuring it was good for many more years of motoring.
Finally, adjustable EZ power steering and a Kenlow fan were installed. The original Steering Wheel was replaced with a replacement wood-rimmed steering (the original wheel is still with the car.
The car's has a substantial history file starting from new demonstrating how much love and attention has been given to this car , MOTs, tax discs, supporting invoices of work carried out as.
It is accompanied by an August 2021 copy of Jaguar World magazine, in which it is the star of a lengthy feature.
I have had the car regularly serviced and have had both bumpers and all the overriders re-chromed, the painted wire wheels have been replaced by chrome versions, including the spare and updated the seat belts to Inertia reel.
Over the last winter I have had all the wood refurbished to a high standard and while doing this I had the original clock repaired and upgraded to an electric version and upgraded the dashboard lights to LEDs. Under my ownership I have continued to ensure that it has been well looked after demonstrated by it winning the ‘Best In Show’ award 3-years running at the Isle of Wight Jaguar Enthusiasts’ event
I acquired the car in 2021 and have continued in maintaining it to a high standard and ensuring it gets regular use, most recently having toured Jersey.
It also comes with an MoT that’s valid until 22. 4. 25. as well as a near complete set of tools, jack and spinner hammer.
The car is located on the Isle of Wight. I am happy to bring the car to Portsmouth or Lymington for Viewings or assist with ferry costs.
