Description
Welcome to this regretful sale of my 1937/ 8 1140cc Royal Enfield.
These were made for just a 2 year period I believe, the outbreak of WW2 scuppered future production as RE re-engaged for the war effort.
This is one of the best out there (I think less than 30 actually taxed and running) from a production run of 700 approximately.
I had looked for many years for one and finally I came across this one 7 years ago, which exceeded all expectations as most of them are really pretty knackered old iron to say the least.
There is a good array of hand written details of work done during the restoration , including receipts from Alpha for the engine rebuild , crank and pistons etc, plus numerous others, also a nice legible and authentic hand written inventory of the work and dates etc completed. plus photos/ parts book/ and other manuals.
As per photos you can easily surmise the detail that has gone into this bike, all the fasteners are stainless and match the period, its a 12volt system, Tank has been cleaned and lined just for security as its in actually very good condition both inside and out, with excellent paintwork and coach lining, all through the bike this finish is very good. (not mint as the bike has been used)
Obviously this is the boltless cradle frame, big improvement over the previous model.
The wheels have perfect painted rims, (possibly plastic/ powder coated) and stainless spokes having been rebuilt at some point, they are just immaculate.
Tank chrome work is first class and no dents whatsoever, 2 new taps fitted.
It is possibly one of the best if not perhaps the best example in existence, but obviously just my opinion.
I've seen them up for sale between 25 and 28k, Andy tiernan had two of these at one stage, one in germany for more, but honestly speaking none come even close to this example, overall a very well sorted machine in standard black and chrome with gold coach lining, hand painted .
The forks have been completely rebuilt and the engine by the previous owner, with receipts here for pistons, crank done by alpha, etc, seen very little use in my ownership and since the restoration.
Make no mistake this a big machine and sadly just too much for me now to handle, if no joy selling then it can just stay in the lounge where i will get endless satisfaction from just cleaning and looking at it!
Please contact in the first instance through the message system on this website, please do not send mails like " is this item still for sale?", there are many phishers and scammers latching onto adverts on this site.
If you are reading this advert then the bike is for sale.
when sold it will be immediately removed.
Just to add and to apologise in advance to all us real bikers, please only contact if you are genuinely interested in the bike, I have had quite some messers lately asking all manner of questions, to the point where you can easily surmise why most people now are selling off their collections at auctions as they cant put up with these trolls out there.
A rare bike with great Patina and good history, V5 present and in my name.
Thanks for looking at my advert.
