Description
Original 1973 Chrome bumper MGB GT in (original Damask Red) was No:2 in UK of top five sought after colours in 1973. NO:1 Glacier white (513 or 19. 7%) NO:2 Damask Red (471 or 18. 2%) which is now becoming quite RARE. This car is a lovely example of one of Britain's favourite affordable classics. My car has had a full mot earlier this year & valid until MOT 27/ 05/ 25, FREE tax until 1/ 06/ 25. The car is in very good running, safe & legal road worthy driving condition, and could be daily used with no issues at all. It has been my little pride & job project over covid lock down and I am a true owner enthusiast and I only ever take her out and drive it on dry sunny days, The car is in very good overall rust free & shiny/ glossy condition. ..... I have lots of old MOTs, bills and receipts dating back for many years with thousands of pounds spent. includes: Many new parts : full stainless steel exhaust, New uprated fuel pump, New Brakes, New batteries, rebuilt engine, rebuilt overdrive, new oil cooler set K&N 'MGB' Air filter upgrade Halogen headlamps New ignition parts, including leads, coil, plugs and points and much more. As you can see in the engine pictures its spotless, the paintwork has a good shine and very easy to clean or polish. Obviously, for a car at this price and age of 51/ 52yrs old.
As a transparent & honest genuine owner with full disclosure for buyers: There are some minor age/ travel marks but nothing serious or noticable as you would for a car of its age, there is a slight bubble possible paint on the upper right wing which is not noticable unless you seriously have to look for it ( Photos attached) and has been confirmed by MG car restorer its NOT rust in anyway nor has changed size etc in six years when I first bought the car. I have a slight split on the fold section of the vinyl sunroof which has been repaired and works fine. The chrome-work is geninely all very good, with only some very minor pitting here and there, brasso & a little bit of effort but overall very good. The GT wheels have been fully refurbished and chrome trims are fitted. The interior is very clean/ tidy & all original including steering wheel, the seats are pretty comfortable on long distance as is the drive. The seats don't have any nasty rips or tears, the carpets are nice and clean. The car is very reliable & starts, runs, drives and stops very well as it should. The car engine pulls readily and there are no nasty rattles or smoke, whines etc. Gears all select very well and the overdrive functions flawlessly engages and has been fully refurbed a few years ago. Structurally, the car was fully inspected top to bottom on a ramp and all appears to be very sound/ good condition. Both under sills, castle rails, chassis legs and spring hangers all appear to be just fine NO RUST. There aren't any nasty patches of welding, it's all good and of very good solid/ sound condition. This little Car has to be seen & driven to be apprechated, The little Car was awarded contours a few years ago before my purchase winner 2nd Place and the award certificate is pictured on the enclosed photos. Please we ask at this time, no tire kickers or time wasters, this is as close to an original & genuine classic car as you will get and im a genuine private seller looking to sell my car to another enthusiast owner who will keep the heritage, provenance and maintenance of this great little classic british sports car..
Any AA or RAC inspections very welcome.
PLEASE NOTE: I was considering a full wire wheel conversion on my car, however I have a set of Genuine 1973 wire wheels that have been fully tightened/ checked & restored, Chrome power coated for better rust protection, NOT chrome dipped and fitted with brand new 175 70 14 tyres which are NOT included within the sale of the car.
However they can be purchased seperatley or a deal can be agreed with the sale of the car. (please see photos attached). Bought my little car for my 50th Birthday treat a few years ago..
Car is very easy to maintain, parts are very reasonably priced and very accessible through MGOC Club site etc.
